Fusion developer Taiyi Nuclear Energy unveiled a Wuxi stellarator research-and-validation project with planned investment exceeding RMB2.5 billion.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the October 18, 2026 edition
The project was presented on October 17. Taiyi Nuclear Energy held its controlled-fusion stellarator project launch at the Wuxi International Conference Center. The research-and-validation base is located in Wuxi’s high-tech district and was described in local reporting as Jiangsu’s first controlled-fusion project.
The announced investment is a project plan, not disclosed closed financing. The sources state total investment exceeding RMB2.5 billion and say project implementation was progressing alongside the design announcement. They do not provide financing commitments, amounts already spent, or construction-completion dates.
The reported design uses a “dual-mode stellarator” configuration. Local coverage describes the configuration as a world first and presents the project as addressing gaps in China’s large-stellarator development and commercial application. Those descriptions are source claims; the materials do not establish electricity generation, grid connection, or commercial operation.
