SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son plans $50 billion in Malaysian AI, technology, and data-center investments across Sarawak and the Malay Peninsula.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the October 25, 2026 edition
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son had selected Malaysian locations for a planned $50 billion technology investment. Anwar’s account appeared in the text of a Saturday speech in Malacca, following a video meeting with Son on Tuesday.
The locations named were Sarawak, Kuching, and the Malay Peninsula. The stated investment areas were artificial intelligence, new technologies, and data centers, without a financial allocation among those categories.
The source describes an investment plan communicated by Anwar, not a closed financing or completed capital expenditure. It provides no binding investment agreement, construction timetable, computing-hardware specification, or data-center power capacity.
