Microsoft’s planned data-center capacity exceeds 38 GW by 2032, covering owned and leased facilities but excluding compute rented from neoclouds.

Bloomberg reporting relayed by Financial_Express says Microsoft’s global data-center roadmap exceeds 38 gigawatts by 2032, compared with approximately 12 gigawatts currently. The information is attributed to people familiar with the plans, not to a supplied Microsoft filing.

The roadmap includes Microsoft-owned and leased data-center facilities. It explicitly excludes compute rented from neocloud providers such as CoreWeave, preserving the distinction between facility capacity and externally purchased compute services.

A separate supplied message reports that Microsoft disclosed more than $130 billion in new data-center leases in the previous quarter. That monetary disclosure is separate from the gigawatt roadmap and should not be treated as an expenditure-to-capacity conversion.

The people cited in the capacity report cautioned that the plans could change, noting the multiyear construction process and changing customer preferences and technologies. Consequently, the 2032 figure is planned capacity, not currently operating capacity or a fully committed deployment total.
