· ComputeLabs Research · from the October 3, 2026 edition

Fiber-access infrastructure reached 1.23 billion ports at the end of August. The source labels these fiber-to-the-home/office (FTTH/O) ports and reports a net increase of 21.16 million from the previous year-end.

Total internet broadband access ports reached 1.27 billion. That broader total increased by 23.22 million from the previous year-end, with fiber accounting for the reported 96.7% share.

Installed ports and customer subscriptions are separate measures. The same report puts fixed-internet broadband subscriptions across the three basic telecommunications operators at 704 million, up by 13.65 million from the previous year-end; it does not provide a port-utilization rate or data-center interconnection-capacity figure.
