Potential cooperation between TSMC (台积电) and Terafab, the chip-fabrication project jointly initiated by SpaceX and Tesla (特斯拉), remains under discussion.

The reported relationship remains exploratory. Financial_Express says Elon Musk (埃隆·马斯克) responded to reports of possible TSMC–Terafab cooperation by stating that the matter was only at the discussion stage.

Terafab is the chip-fabrication project jointly initiated by SpaceX and Tesla, distinct from TSMC itself. Earlier messages attribute the cooperation report to technology journalist Tim Culpan (高鸣璨) and state that Terafab had previously reached a cooperation arrangement with Intel (英特尔), without supplying its terms.

The reports also describe a possible customer relationship and a separate TSMC site consideration. One says TSMC was considering Terafab as an important customer for a future Texas wafer fabrication plant, while earlier messages say TSMC was considering a second U.S. campus and identify Texas as a possible location; these remain reported possibilities, not confirmed construction commitments.

No binding TSMC–Terafab contract or financing terms are supplied. Musk’s remark that progress might occur is a statement about potential progress, not evidence of committed manufacturing capacity, capital expenditure, or a deployment date.
