AWS asked engineers to reduce CPU waste as EC2 capacity tightened, extending some server provisioning from hours to days.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the August 8, 2026 edition
Amazon Web Services asked engineers to reduce waste of central processing unit resources amid tighter compute availability. The reported constraint specifically concerned Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, or EC2, capacity.
The source attributed the shortage to rapidly increasing demand for compute resources. It did not identify affected EC2 instance families, processors, availability zones, regions, or customer workloads.
Some internal server requests that previously could be fulfilled within hours were reportedly taking days. The report did not state that EC2 was generally unavailable or quantify the amount of capacity affected.
