SK hynix is preliminarily evaluating investors for its Chongqing packaging-and-testing base; a potential sale could value it near $3 billion.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the August 8, 2026 edition
SK hynix is considering options for its Chongqing assets, including bringing in outside investors to support the operation’s growth. The company was reportedly contacting potential advisers to evaluate the business.
The Chongqing facility is an important semiconductor packaging-and-testing base rather than a wafer-fabrication plant. SK hynix entered China more than 20 years ago and separately established its first large overseas wafer-manufacturing facility in Wuxi.
A potential equity sale could value the Chongqing facility at approximately $3 billion. Possible bidders were said to include Chinese funds and industrial investors, while SK hynix could retain a minority interest; however, the discussions were preliminary and might not result in a transaction.
