Apple’s advanced-node chip production constraints are easing as the company shifts more products to 2-nanometer technology.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the November 2, 2026 edition
Apple’s chief operating officer said on the earnings call that constraints on advanced-node chip output are loosening as more products move to 2-nanometer technology. The statement describes improving production availability but supplies no wafer-volume, yield, or product-specific allocation figures.
Separate supply constraints remained evident in Apple’s product commentary. Management said iPhone Duo was still supply-constrained and could not yet provide a date for supply-demand balance, while the chief financial officer attributed a 10% decline in iPad revenue to supply limitations.
The chief financial officer also said manufacturing purchase obligations increased by US$33 billion between the June and September quarters. Separately, the chief executive said inventory management and lower non-memory component costs had partly offset rising memory costs; the sources do not allocate the purchase-obligation increase specifically to 2-nanometer chips.
