Battery supplier CATL participates in four Argentine grid-storage projects and recently established a local sales and technical team.

CATL executives, including Latin America general manager Harry Liu, said the company was participating in four grid-storage projects in Argentina. They discussed the business at an event in Buenos Aires.

Two projects involve Central Puerto, and one involves Edison, the new Argentine company backed by the Neuss family. The fourth project was not named, and the supplied report does not specify the projects’ power ratings, energy-storage capacities, or commissioning status.

CATL was also negotiating supply arrangements with companies that had won Argentine storage tenders. Those discussions are distinct from signed supply contracts; the report additionally notes CATL’s interest in opportunities associated with grid operator Cammesa and in storage systems for mines.

The company had recently established an Argentine team with sales and technical personnel. That is a local operating-presence update, but the source provides no headcount, investment amount, or local manufacturing commitment.
