Kimi, MiniMax, and StepFun entered talks to open Tmall flagship stores selling token subscriptions; no launch date was disclosed.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the September 5, 2026 edition
Kimi, MiniMax, and StepFun (阶跃星辰) were reported to be in discussions with Alibaba’s Tmall over opening official flagship stores. The talks followed the launch of Zhipu AI’s first store on an e-commerce platform through Tmall.
The proposed stores would sell token-subscription packages for the companies’ large-model services. The source described the companies as being in contact with Tmall and did not state that their stores had already launched.
No opening date, token quantity, subscription duration, pricing, discount structure, service-level terms, or refund policy was disclosed. The report also did not identify whether subscriptions would cover consumer applications, application-programming-interface usage, or both.
The update therefore concerns prospective retail distribution arrangements rather than completed store openings or recorded subscription sales. No binding commercial agreements between Tmall and the model providers were disclosed.
