Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan said AI-related initial public offerings raised nearly HK$100 billion from December through May. That represented approximately 55% of all IPO proceeds raised in Hong Kong during the same period.
Chan also said multiple AI-related companies had recently been added to Hang Seng Indexes, reflecting their growing weight in Hong Kong’s economy and financial market. Separately, Hong Kong’s exports had recorded high-double-digit growth for several consecutive quarters amid global demand for AI-related products.
The Hong Kong government allocated HK$50 million in its budget for an “AI for All” training program. Through Cyberport, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks and the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the program targets more than 200 activities and approximately 50,000 participant attendances across 2026 and 2027.
Within the government, an AI efficiency task group had initiated 30 efficiency projects spanning 13 departments. A cited research estimate said that matching large-company AI adoption rates among small and medium-sized enterprises by 2035 could unlock as much as HK$65 billion in economic benefits.
