Google launched the Gemini 4 Carbon frontier model with separate token prices of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. The supplied launch message does not specify context-window limits, caching prices, batch discounts, or service-level guarantees.
CEO Sundar Pichai said the initial rollout was to cybersecurity partners and that Carbon was undergoing testing with the U.S. government. Those statements describe restricted initial access and testing, not government procurement or broad consumer availability.
Pichai characterized Carbon as Google’s strongest model and said it outperformed Gemini 4 Argon. A longer call summary also attributes a first-place Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index ranking and strong cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities to the announcement, but supplies no benchmark scores or evaluation methodology.
Pichai said Google was developing a distilled version for more than one billion users and intended to make Carbon available to consumers later in the year. These are development and rollout plans, distinct from the model’s initial partner release.
