ZTE is conducting commercial validation of 100/200-Gb/s satellite laser-communication products, while testing 400/800-Gb/s core chips and optical components.

ZTE disclosed two distinct validation stages for satellite optical communications. Executive vice president and chief technology officer Wang Xiyu said satellite-borne 100- and 200-gigabit-per-second products were undergoing commercial validation. The 400- and 800-gigabit-per-second figures apply to core chips and optical components still undergoing validation, rather than confirmed deployed satellite links.

The product architecture supports different satellite-platform requirements. Wang said laser-communication and routing functions can be offered separately or combined. The report does not provide customer names, satellite deployment counts, contract values, or commercial-service dates.

The same presentation covered optical networking inside data centers. Wang described near-packaged optics, or NPO, as combining openness, cost, and maintainability advantages, with interconnection within a node as its principal application. He presented ZTE’s next-generation NPO data-center networking solution as an approach for AI interconnection fabrics and higher bandwidth density.

These statements were made at the tenth Future Network Development Conference in Nanjing, held October 15–17. Wang framed optical interconnection development as extending toward both very short and very long distances. These are attributed technical and product statements, not independently supplied benchmark results.
