Google Cloud made Spanner Omni generally available, supporting distributed SQL, graph, vector, and key-value workloads across on-premises and other clouds.

· ComputeLabs Research · from the October 9, 2026 edition

Google Cloud’s October 5–9 update states that Spanner Omni is generally available. It brings Spanner’s distributed Structured Query Language (SQL), graph, vector, and key-value capabilities to environments beyond the managed Google Cloud service.

Supported deployment environments listed in the source include on-premises data centers, other public clouds using Kubernetes or virtual machines, and local developer laptops. These are software deployment options, not announcements of new Google-operated data-center capacity.

Google says organizations can use consistent application programming interfaces (APIs) and query engines across hybrid and multicloud deployments, with a path to scaling into managed Spanner on Google Cloud. The same update also notes removal of cumulative mutation limits for Spanner data manipulation language (DML) transactions, without supplying further limits or implementation details.

The supplied material does not give Spanner Omni pricing, hardware requirements, performance benchmarks, or service-level commitments. Its confirmed product-stage distinction is general availability, rather than preview or an announced future release.
