Micron began shipping its 245-terabyte 6600 ION solid-state drive, built with G9 quad-level-cell NAND, during 2026.

· ComputeLabs Research · from the October 9, 2026 edition

Micron’s 10-K states that shipments of the 245 TB 6600 ION SSD began in 2026. The 245-terabyte figure is the capacity of the individual drive, not a server, storage rack, or data-center installation.

The drive uses G9 quad-level-cell (QLC) NAND. Micron describes improved rack-scale storage density and says the product is designed for AI, cloud, enterprise, and hyperscale workloads, including next-generation AI data lakes and cloud-scale file and object storage.

The filing lists the 6600 ION among the SSD families contributing to Micron’s 2026 data-center SSD sales, alongside the 5400, 6550 ION, 7450, 7500, 7550, 7600, 9550, and 9650 series. It does not disclose 6600 ION shipment volumes, product revenue, pricing, endurance, or a measured rack-density improvement.

The 6600 ION shipment disclosure is separate from the filing’s statement about G9 NAND-based PCIe Gen6 SSD volume production. The supplied extract does not identify the 245 TB 6600 ION as a PCIe Gen6 drive, so those two milestones should not be merged into a single product specification.
