Zhipu (智谱) plans opt-in model-as-a-service data non-retention, excluding Batch API, File API, and legally required or abuse-investigation retention.

Zhipu (智谱) announced on the evening of September 20 that its model-as-a-service (MaaS) platform would introduce a data-content non-retention feature. Although some message headlines say “launches,” their body text describes an upcoming feature rather than universal availability already in effect.

Any user may apply, with enterprises and developers submitting requests through the MaaS console. Once enabled, the platform says it will not persistently store covered user inputs and outputs, using the data only to complete the current model call; the actual effective date and coverage depend on platform confirmation.

The feature excludes Batch API and File API, application programming interfaces whose functionality requires persistent storage of tasks or files. Zhipu also says data may be retained for 30 days or longer where required by law or regulation, or to investigate suspected violations or abuse.

Related coverage says Zhipu plans to open-source its ZCode AI coding tool in response to concerns about data processing. The company said it had invited the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (中国信息通信研究院) to audit retention practices and planned monthly code-security audit reports and a continuing vulnerability-reporting mechanism; these commitments are distinct from completed audit findings.
