Micron demonstrated a 512GB DDR5 registered server-memory module reaching 9,200 megatransfers per second; volume production targets second-half 2027, subject to demand.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the September 15, 2026 edition
Micron announced a successful demonstration of a 512GB DDR5 registered dual in-line memory module, or RDIMM, with speeds up to 9,200 megatransfers per second (MT/s). The capacity and transfer-rate figures apply to the server-memory module, not to GPU memory capacity or complete-server performance.
Micron attributes the development to advanced dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) packaging and describes it as the world’s first 512GB DDR5 module. Its announcement also claims an operating-power reduction of more than 60%, but the supplied excerpt does not identify the comparison baseline or test conditions.
The Telegram report says the module was demonstrated on multiple server platforms and that AMD and Intel are validating it (“已在多个服务器平台成功展示……AMD 和英特尔均正对该模块进行验证”). Micron expects volume production in the second half of 2027, depending on customer demand, rather than reporting current volume availability (“将根据客户需求于 2027 年下半年进入量产”).
