Astera Labs launched Leo 2 memory controllers supporting Compute Express Link 3.2 and PCIe 6, plus fabric-attached Leo X.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the September 15, 2026 edition
Astera Labs announced three memory-connectivity solutions: Leo X-Series, Leo 2 E-Series, and Leo 2 P-Series. These extend its Leo Smart Memory Controller family across direct fabric-attached GPU memory, CPU-attached expansion, and pooled or shared memory architectures.
ServeTheHome reports that Leo 2 adds Compute Express Link (CXL) 3.2 and Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) Gen6 support. These are memory-controller connectivity capabilities, not specifications for a new CPU or GPU.
Leo X addresses a separate architecture: attaching memory expanders directly to AI-accelerator fabric networks. The sources position the launches around agentic AI and cloud workloads, but the supplied excerpts contain no memory-capacity limits, measured bandwidth, latency, pricing, or customer deployment quantities.
