AWS still cannot restore data access in Bahrain and parts of the UAE following war-related data-center damage.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the September 15, 2026 edition
Amazon Web Services, or AWS, reportedly said it remained unable to restore access to affected facilities more than six months after drone-related damage, in its first public update since April (“无人机袭击造成设施损坏六个多月后……这是自 4 月以来的首次公开更新”). The update concerns Bahrain and parts of the United Arab Emirates, or UAE, rather than a stated global AWS disruption.
The more detailed report says data stored only in Bahrain data centers and affected UAE areas remained inaccessible (“目前无法访问仅存储于巴林数据中心以及阿联酋部分网络区域的数据”). It also says most customers had restored operations through backups or migration to data centers in other countries (“大多数客户已通过备份或迁移至其他国家的数据中心恢复运营”).
In the UAE, the report identifies one availability zone with inaccessible data, while engineers were repairing resources in two other availability zones (“阿联酋仍有一个可用区的数据无法访问,工程团队正在修复另外两个可用区资源”). These are availability-zone counts, not a count of individual servers or a measure of total regional capacity.
AWS reportedly plans a further Bahrain recovery update in early 2027, not a promised restoration by that date (“公司预计将于明年初进一步更新巴林设施恢复情况”). The messages separately describe two directly hit UAE data centers and two damaged Bahrain facilities, without providing facility-level identifiers that would support constructing a consolidated site inventory.
