China’s newly established integrated-circuit manufacturing companies increased by 24.2% during the first half of 2026.

The number of newly established companies in China’s integrated-circuit manufacturing sector increased by 24.2% year over year during the first half of 2026. The figure concerns company registrations, not semiconductor production capacity, wafer starts, capital expenditure, or chip output.

Across high-technology manufacturing, China had 330,000 companies as of the end of June and registered 15,000 new companies during the first half. Newly established spacecraft and launch-vehicle manufacturers increased by 185.7%, while new optical-fiber and cable manufacturers increased by 129.4%.

China also registered 28,000 new high-end equipment-manufacturing companies, up 2.5%. Within that category, newly established intelligent-equipment companies increased by 6.4%, and urban rail-equipment manufacturers increased by 4.4%.
