Anthropic launched Claude Duet, an Opus 5.5-based proactive agent, in research preview, with access requiring a waitlist.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the October 21, 2026 edition
Anthropic introduced Claude Duet as a proactive agent built on its Opus 5.5 model. Access remains a research preview requiring a waitlist, rather than unrestricted general availability.
The reported design allows Duet to continue working in the background, surface pending tasks, and handle work assignments proactively. Anthropic identifies small businesses and professionals as the intended users.
Specific reported capabilities include daily briefings, monitoring connected applications, building dashboards, scheduling meetings, and creating financial forecasts. The sources describe these as product functions, without supplying accuracy measurements, completion-rate benchmarks, or pricing.
Anthropic also said Duet was available as a standalone application on iOS and Android, with access through the Claude website. Those distribution channels do not remove the separately reported research-preview access restriction.
