Data-center operator NEXTDC paused new developments and land acquisitions after Jemena suspended power-connection work at Melbourne’s M3 data center.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the October 20, 2026 edition
The reported disruption concerns the M3 facility’s electricity connection. NEXTDC said Jemena Electricity Networks suspended connection work following opposition from local community members and other stakeholders. The company was considering force-majeure options; the report does not say it had successfully invoked contractual relief.
NEXTDC reduced its fiscal-year earnings outlook. For the year ending June 2027, expected EBITDA fell to A$245 million–A$265 million from A$385 million–A$410 million. These are revised forecasts, not reported full-year results.
The company also reassessed its capital program. It paused all new development projects and land acquisitions while evaluating capital expenditure, and the report recorded a share-price decline of as much as 44% at the Sydney opening. The supplied material contains no exchange filing, revised M3 connection date, or affected-capacity figure.
