The United States and China agreed to extend their trade truce through January 10, 2027, maintaining the existing arrangement.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the U.S.–China trade truce was extended through January 10, 2027 (“中美贸易休战期延长至 2027 年 1 月 10 日”). FinancialJuice separately reported that the two countries agreed on Wednesday to prolong the Busan agreement.

The announcement followed Bessent’s discussions with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng (何立峰). Earlier reporting quoted Bessent as accepting either continuation of the Busan arrangement or examination of a broader agreement.

The extension should be distinguished from agreement on a larger trade package: Bessent said he did not know whether a broader agreement could be reached (“不知道能否与中国达成更加宏大的协议”). The supplied messages do not identify new tariff rates, semiconductor export-control changes, or AI-specific provisions.
