Nscale’s Microsoft contract requires 6 megawatts of air-cooled colocation space in Norway for CPU, storage, and networking infrastructure.

· ComputeLabs Research · from the September 18, 2026 edition

The filed statement of work requires designated, air-cooled colocation space equipped with 6 megawatts of power at Kvandal North in Narvik, Norway, with the address given as Nordmoveien 301, Bjerkvik. This allocation is for Microsoft’s central processing unit (CPU), storage and networking requirements associated with GPU operation. It is additional to the contract’s GPU services and early-access capacity, not a disclosed total GPU-campus power figure.

Nscale must provide physical installation for racks, trays and rear-door heat exchangers if needed for air cooling. The space must satisfy the specified GPU-as-a-Service security standards and receive Microsoft’s advance review and agreement. It must be available at least 90 days before delivery of the first GPU service.

A separate early-access provision requires two contract racks, free of charge, 60 days before the first GPU service of a GPU type or the first service following an agreed technology change. These racks are additional to the main service tranches and remain subject to validation and acceptance criteria.

Each main GPU tranche begins its service term upon Microsoft’s acceptance, following supplier hardware, performance and network validation; the excerpt specifies a 35-day acceptance period for the first GPU service. Microsoft can also extend a tranche beyond its Year 6 end date by up to six months, with at least three months’ written notice, using Year 6 pricing. These are contractual requirements and options, not confirmation that delivery or acceptance has occurred.
