Four U.S. companies committed $2 billion toward South Korean semiconductor materials, equipment, manufacturing, and offshore-wind projects.

South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said four U.S. companies committed a combined $2 billion of investment in South Korea. The stated target areas are semiconductor materials and equipment, advanced display materials, manufacturing capacity, and offshore wind.

Air Products plans to expand semiconductor-gas supply facilities in Pyeongtaek, while ion-implantation equipment manufacturer Axcelis plans to enlarge its production facilities in South Korea. Corning committed to expanding its manufacturing capacity and broader Korean operations.
