Telefónica and quantum-computing supplier IQM plan to install Madrid’s first quantum computer, expanding their existing collaboration.

Data Center Dynamics reports that Telefónica and IQM will install what it describes as Madrid’s first quantum computer. The report concerns a planned installation, not an already commissioned system.

The partners have previously supplied two quantum computers to the Galicia Supercomputing Center (CESGA). Those existing deliveries provide the specific collaboration background cited for the Madrid project.

The excerpt does not disclose the Madrid system’s qubit count, architecture, purchase price, installation date, or customer-access arrangements. The “first” designation applies to Madrid, not to Spain as a whole.
