Google Cloud previewed Looker Data Apps, hosting AI-agent-generated applications natively within Looker using its existing governance and security framework.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the October 12, 2026 edition
Google Cloud announced Looker Data Apps in preview, pairing AI-generated applications with Looker’s existing governance and security framework. The product is described as hosting bespoke, interactive web applications natively inside Looker, rather than merely exporting dashboard data to a separate application.
The announcement distinguishes these applications from standard dashboards by their focus on operational workflows. Users can enter parameters, test scenarios, run live simulations, update underlying records, and trigger downstream actions such as dispatching events to Salesforce or Jira.
Google identifies Claude Code and Antigravity CLI as examples of AI developer tools for building custom interfaces grounded in Looker’s semantic layer. The announcement says application logic is governed centrally through the LookML semantic layer to maintain consistent metrics across dashboards and applications.
Looker Data Apps are presented as an extension of dashboards, not a replacement for them, with custom layouts, web components, and multipage experiences. Although Google describes the applications as production-grade, the product’s stated release stage is preview, and the supplied excerpt does not provide pricing, availability limits, or measured production reliability.
