Google Cloud introduced the Gemini agent, supporting Gemini and Claude models, multi-model orchestration, and real-time project-level spending caps.

Google introduced the Gemini agent as a single work agent and application programming interface (API) for answering questions, performing knowledge work, creating images and media, and writing and running code. Google explicitly separates the agent from its underlying model: it currently orchestrates across Gemini and Claude models, and a supplied Telegram dispatch says it can dynamically create a roster of sub-agents.

The agent can function as a personal assistant or a team member in roles such as project manager or finance analyst, using business systems, work history, skills, and tools. Google lists access through web, Android, iOS, Mac, Windows, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Slack; within Workspace, it operates in Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Chat, and Calendar with shared memory, skills, and controls. Listed business-tool connections include Asana, Box, Clay, Docusign, Dropbox, GitHub, LegalZoom, Notion, Salesforce, Shopify, Slack, and Wix.

Cost controls include multi-model orchestration, Smart Routing, and real-time project-level spending caps in the Cloud Billing Console. Google also identifies identity and policy management, authorization and permissions, secure sandboxing, and network gateways as governance mechanisms. Additional announcements cover plain-language data and analytics skills, machine-learning skills, and financial-services and legal specializations.

Google reports that nearly 500 customers each processed more than one trillion tokens in the last year, nearly 80% of Google Cloud customers use its AI products, and nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 use Gemini Enterprise. Its small- and midsize-business article says that segment’s usage of Google Cloud AI tools increased more than fivefold year over year and describes the agent as being in early access with such customers. These are Google-reported adoption metrics, not usage measurements for the newly introduced agent alone.
