Google Cloud introduced Bigtable subscriptions in preview, writing Pub/Sub messages directly into Bigtable tables without customer-managed data pipelines.
· ComputeLabs Research · from the September 17, 2026 edition
Google Cloud introduced Bigtable subscriptions in preview, enabling Pub/Sub messages to be written directly into Bigtable tables. The feature appears in Google Data Cloud’s September 14–17 update and is not described as generally available.
Google characterizes the integration as zero extract, transform, and load (ETL), requiring no customer-written pipeline or code for the direct ingestion path. The announcement describes the experience as serverless and zero-operations, consistent with its description of Pub/Sub.
The feature includes native support for dead-letter topics. Google identifies model telemetry and real-time context engineering as AI use cases, but the supplied material provides no ingestion-rate, latency, pricing, or production benchmark figures.
